Prayer Life of our Members
I have my parents to thank for my faith. They were good, simple farm folk of French descent who never spoke English. In those days the priests who served our parish (St. John Francis Regis, Arnaudville, LA) came from France. I heard my first word of English when I started first grade. The mass was in Latin and all homilies were in French. My parents gave their 13 children a perfect example of what a good Catholic should be.
They belonged to the Apostolate of the Sacred Heart and each day began with recitation of the Morning Offering. I still start each day with this prayer and it is my favorite:
"O Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer Thee all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for all the intentions of Thy Sacred Heart, for the intentions of Thy Blessed Mother, for all the intentions of Our Holy Father the Pope this month, for all of our children, grandchildren and all spouses (and other personal intentions)...
