Apostleship of Prayer

“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily
and follow me,” Jesus said (Luke 9.23). The Apostles of Prayer strive to live that simple,
profound way of life by offering our whole selves every day for the coming of God’s
Kingdom on Earth. We offer ourselves to God as a “living sacrifice” (Romans 12:1) in
union with all the Masses throughout the world each day. When we pray for the Holy
Father’s monthly prayer intentions and the intentions of all the Apostles of Prayer, we
have confidence that millions are also praying for us.

“Be Apostles now!” said our founder, Fr. Francis X. Gautrelet, S.J., in 1844. He was speaking to Jesuit seminarians frustrated that they could not go at once to the mission fields. He taught them the power of offering themselves each day for spread of the Kingdom. Later St. Therese of Lisieux expressed her own dedication to the missions in the same way. In that spirit, we ask you to promote the Gospel by prudently distributing our prayer materials to others.
